Trial this weekend

Our training club hosted an AKC agility trial here in Columbus. It is so nice to have them in Columbus and not have to drive over an hour to get to the trial. I was the first to get to go and went Friday. My standard run was really nice. I came in 16 seconds under time and had a clean run so that means a Q for me and 16 more MACH points (up to 186 towards my 750 needed).

Next up was my jumpers run. Again all DAD's fault not mine. You will even hear me tell him about it in the ring. I said dad come on you're making me look silly in front of all my furiends.

Dadster gave me some hot dogs after so he made up for it and I forgave him. He always gets me with those hotdogs.

Mars Adoption on the Lawn

We live near the plant that makes Pedigree dog food. Each year they host an annual "Adoption on the Lawn" event. This year they found homes for almost 100 animals. They open it up to the public and invite a bunch of rescue groups to bring their adoptable dogs. They have free lunch for everyone and give out TONS of samples. It is a great time. This year our disc dog club was invited to perform for the people in attendance.

Here is a little video of Bokeh showing everyone how to teach a pup to play disc

and this is Daredevil Bazooka during the show (the little girl at the end is momster's niece, isn't she cute?)

These are the samples we brought home. What we don't use we donate to the local Humane Society

Parade

The little town we live in has an event every year called "Arts in the Alley" it is where local artist can display their work and sell their items. Each year before the festival opens they have a parade for the businesses in Grove City. The daycare that Tempest and Bokeh go to is in town and invited to march in the parade. Tempest is currently in heat and on LOCKDOWN. Bokeh was coughing and not feeling well so I was a nice big sister and offered to walk with dadster in the parade for Dogs Rule!

You can see me here as I walk past where mom was watching the parade (yes it was raining and yes I'm soaked in the video) but I LOVE going on walks so I will not complain

Here are some pictures from the parade

Chewy Review

It's that time again. Our great friend over at Chewy asked us to do another review. This time it is for Merrick's natural beef cut jerky.

Chewy is always SO fast with their deliveries. Once they say it is on the way about 87 seconds later the door bell is ringing with our package. Here is what the jerky looked like when it came to our house.

 photo EJWB_1164_zpse0c47b60.jpg

Here is an up close of the jerky treats

 photo EJWB_1165_zpse2aa680b.jpg

The treats are made in the USA and are a 100% natural. The jerky treats are rawhide-free and contain no artificial flavors or fillers. They are great for dogs of all sizes and ages.

We sure did enjoy eating them, but they were a little hard so the parents said we wouldn't be able to use them during training so these would be some treats for our Cookie Jar that we get when we come inside on time.

Here is the video of us tasting them for the first time (sorry momster sounds awful she is fighting a cold, yuck)

Oh...one last thing. Louisville Weimaraner Rescue will receive a $20 donation for any NEW customers at Chewy.com making their first purchase if they just use this LINK HERE

In exchange for our review we did receive a free bag of jerky treats to try

Bokeh doesn't feel well

Momster and dadster had to take Bokeh to the VET yesterday. Bokeh has been coughing, coughing and coughing a lot lately. The VET said that Bokeh has an upper respiratory infection. Got him on some antibiotics and cough pills and he should be better soon.

Agility Trial

Last weekend we packed up our car and drove to Zanesville. We were supposed to meet Frankie and Ernie there but they had to help their dad work in the yard so only their mom showed up. It was a nice weekend. I didn't get any Q's (you can blame dadster) but I ran really well and I'm still feeling much better so all in all we claim it was a great weekend. :)

Here is my standard run. Dadster messed me up at the weave poles.

and this is the Jumpers run. Dad again messed me up and sent me in the wrong end of the tunnel. DAD YOU'RE MAKING ME LOOK LIKE A FOOL get it together, BOL!

Dublin Pet Fair

After we went swimming they went home to pick up Starr so we could go to the Dublin Pet Fair. They were doing free nail trims so we had to get our nails done. BOO!

There were vendors there

Big Splash!

As the pool closes for the end of the season they have a final day where they let us pups go wild. They charge $3 and the money goes to help the animals at Colony Cat Rescue. (That is where my 3 kitty sisters were adopted from).

These 2 little cuties were waiting in line to get in

 photo E101_0801_zpsb6ab04a2.jpg

We got there as soon as it opened so I had the whole place to myself practically.

 photo E101_0802_zps64c40cc3.jpg

I made a new friend, a little 5 month old aussie mix named Gabby

 photo E101_0804_zpsd27173fd.jpg

I love swimming. I learned it from my brother Harley (RIP brother Harley, I am making you proud)

 photo E101_0806_zpsee63e8db.jpg

One of the dogs in mom's rescue was there. This is Bill and he is available for adoption. He LOVES to swim and would make a gray-t dock diving dog

Check out this video of Bill diving into the pool.

Starting to get a little crowded now

Training

So last week our Tempest instructor got stuck in traffic and couldn't make it to class. The make up session was this past Sunday. Well, I guess nobody else could make it (not even our instructor) so it was just us and Jenn Crank. If you don't know Jenn you are missing out. Jenn is AMAZING and has been on the USA World Agility team and she coached the world team this past year with her mom Susan. Jenn owns the training facility Tempest goes to. Since nobody showed up for our class we got a one hour private session with Jenn! It was SO cool. Dadster was kind of nervous and kept messing some things up, BOL. But the session was awesome. Tempest worked the entire hour. Jenn asked what we needed to work on and told her about how Tempie is scared of moving objects and noise. So Jenn evaluated her and tested her on some things that moved but didn't make any sounds and guess what Tempie did them just perfect! So we learned that Tempie isn't scared of the movement it is the noise. We told Jenn we have been working on dropping pans, popping bags, stomping feet, etc. to get Tempest used to sounds. She told us that you want a dog who reacts to the noises what you're looking for is the "bounce back" after it is over. Tempest didn't seem to be horrible at the bounce back factor. Jenn told us that Bokeh's confidence will actually help Tempest as well. The session was just amazing and we learned so many new things. Tempest did a sequence of 3 obstacles, table, tunnel, tunnel and was having a blast doing it. Jenn seems to think that Tempest is going to be right on the border of jumping either 16" or 20". We are hoping she jumps 16" but we will see. Jenn said we may need to work on some training to get Tempest to stand the right way when being measured to make that happen. She told us the judges don't like to let border collies in the 16" class and will try to measure them up to 20". We have some great trainers on our side to help us through each process though.

She's back!

After several months of being off of agility to rebuild her hip area Sagira is back and back with a BANG! Sagira's mom here (she is resting up after her return). Sagira had her first trial since she took a break to get some spinal adjustments and acupuncture treatments to help rebuild her hip area. Well, she came back with a bang that is for sure. Sagira did AMAZING her first run. She not only got a Q but got SECOND PLACE! Sagira loves agility but isn't as fast as all the border collies in her class. She has never received a placement (1st - 4th) since being in the excellent and master levels. Well, she broke that streak this past weekend. The agility gods were on our side and luckily she didn't get called for skipping a weave pole. We are SO very proud of our girl and still in shock over the 2nd place ribbon. For those that don't believe in chiropractors and acupuncture I will say here is your proof it works!

And here is video of her jumper run. Another Q and 5th place. This makes QQ #7 towards her MACH and 170 points (she needs 20 QQ and 750 points to earn her MACH).

Training Update

Gosh, where has the time gone? Momster here giving an update on where we are with all this agility training.

Sagira has been cleared to rejoin classes. She is going to Level 6 at our training club and loves it!

Bokeh finally graduated level 4 at our training club and is now in Level 5 agility (he is gaining on Sagira). He still doesn't love it but he is for sure becoming more confident in the ring. Once this clicks for him he is going to be pretty darn awesome (okay, he already is, we love him so). :)

Tempest started her agility training out at IncrediPaws. We feel so lucky to have such close access to a person who has not only been on the USA WORLD agility team but just recently coached the world team this past year. Jenn Crank does an amazing job instructing and we are learning so much. Tempest goes to class on Thursdays and is now in week 5 of her 6 week beginning agility class. She is learning how to do tunnels, chute, sit, stay, down, table work, working a lot on the two on two off boards. She is doing really well so far and just loves working and learning new things. She is going to be hard to keep up with in agility, Jeremy better get on his running shoes with speedy Tempie in the ring with him. hehe

Weimaraner Wednesday

So as most of you know momster volunteers for Louisville Weimaraner Rescue. Mom likes contest on Facebook especially when the rescue can benefit. Quaker Pet Group has a Pet of the Month contest each month. The winner receives a few of their toys but the best part is they donate an entire CASE of toys to a rescue of your choice. Well, you can say mom was all over this contest. She begged and pleaded with all her friends and rescue followers to vote for us as the Pet of the Month. Momster was very happy to see that we won! (Thanks to all who voted for us).

Chewy Review

It's that time again. Our great friend over at Chewy asked us to do another review. This time it is for Orijen's new Adult Freeze Dried dog food. We were very anxious to try this out as Starr, Tempie and I all currently eat Orijen dry dog food (Tempie still eats Puppy formula though).

Chewy is always SO fast with their deliveries. Once they say it is on the way about 87 seconds later the door bell is ringing with our package. Here is what the Orijen freeze dried dog food package looked like when it came to our house.

 photo EJWB_0568_zps708a52da.jpg

This is what the medallions look like before you rehydrate them.

 photo EJWB_0572_zps17d58614.jpg

Dadster then was supposed to put into 4 pieces (guess he can't count very well)

 photo EJWB_0573_zps12b1e47d.jpg

In order to make them even more yummy, dadster poured 1/4 cup warm water over my medallion and let it soak for 5 minutes (bag said 3-5 minutes). He checked it in 5 minutes and it still wasn't soft so I had to wait another few minutes (felt like 87 years though).

 photo EJWB_0576_zpse7a24d8d.jpg

Once it was soft throughout all of it he mixed it up real good and then poured it on my dry adult Orijen kibble

 photo EJWB_0581_zps67dd99ff.jpg

Come on dad hurry up with that food! It smells YUMMY!

 photo EJWB_0585_zpsddabe694.jpg

I had to give it a good sniff before I dove in

 photo EJWB_0590_zps6df338b1.jpg

I was actually eating pretty fast which is unusual for me. I pick and pick at my food and NEVER eat it all. I always leave some kibble in the bowl.

 photo EJWB_0595_zps5cbd053b.jpg

As you can see, this time I left NO kibble in the bowl. I was actually licking the bowl clean. Momster doesn't think she has EVER seen me lick my bowl clean.

 photo EJWB_0598_zps2fe2822a.jpg

Starr had to come over and make sure I got my bowl REALLY clean.

 photo EJWB_0604_zps74e264cd.jpg

So in review. The things we liked about the Orijen freeze dried food is:

- It is one of the highest nutritional foods we have found on the market to date
- It comes in a resealable bag
- I actually ate it all and licked the bowl clean which I NEVER do

Some of the things we didn't like were:

- The writing on the bag is pretty small and kind of hard to read.
- The feeding guidelines only go up to a dog who is 33 pounds.
- The cost, it is pretty expensive if you used this sole food source. But after speaking to an Orijen rep at a local event we just attended, she recommended using this as a topper which would work out well for us and is what we plan to do.

Overall, we feel the good by far out weighs the bad and WILL be buying this again in the future. Thank you Chewy for allowing us to do this review.

Oh...one last thing. Louisville Weimaraner Rescue will receive a $20 donation for any NEW customers at Chewy.com making their first purchase if they just use this LINK HERE

In exchange for our review we did receive a free bag 6 oz. bag of the new freeze dried food to try
