Pedigree

We like to support companies that supports rescue. So here are a few words from our friends over at Pedigree.

Photobucket

We haven’t had a chance to taste it, but don’t put it past us.

Longtime cat and dog adoption advocate and pet food maker, Pedigree®, has developed their best dry food recipe ever, and the result is… extra nutritious, just as tasty. (At least the latter is what we hear.)

Pedigree, created this dog food formulation on recommendations from the Waltham® Centre for Pet Nutrition, which identified four Universal Needs of Dogs: healthy skin/coat, preventative oral care, good digestion, and a strong immune system. In other words, when your pup receives the nutrition he needs to fuel these four areas, and you have the foundation for a happy, healthy pet.

Makes sense to us. Like with humans, skin is your dog’s largest organ – essential to everything from protecting her from bacteria and viruses to regulating her core temperature. So, Pedigree added zinc and linoleic acid for a healthy coat and dermis.

And oral care, often overlooked by pet owners, is the best protection against periodontal disease. Eighty percent of adult dogs will suffer from this painful condition; potentially worse, periodontal disease can lead to serious heart, lung, and kidney problems.

As for healthy digestion and a strong immune system, those are no-brainers. Gastrointestinal troubles are no fun (for either of you), so Pedigree’s formula includes increased levels of fiber – essential for bacteria control, nutrient absorption, and even weight management. Vitamins C and E, antioxidants, were incorporated to boost immunity.

Pedigree’s best dry food ever is in stores now, and the results of taste tests from our four-legged reviewers will be in shortly. Meanwhile, we applaud Pedigree’s commitment to ensuring all dogs receive loving homes – and high-quality dog food. If you would like to read more about Pedigree, head on over to their website: Pedigree.com.

Remember when?

A year ago Bokeh went to his first ever disc event. You can see the videos and read about it HERE. Well, can you believe one year has passed already and it was time for the JaMuary event again? This time mom and I got to go with dad and Bokeh.

Dad and Bokeh entered the Professional division and actually came in 4th place for Freestyle. That is awesome considering most of the people doing it have been doing this for years and Bokeh and dad just started about a year ago.

Here is Bokeh's first round of 4 - 20. They are allowed only 4 disc and 20 seconds to show off their moves. Check out the air he got on the back vault.

This is round 2 of the 4 - 20.

Then he also did Toss and Fetch. He got messed up because dad threw the first one into the gate and Bokeh couldn't get it. Silly dad forgot he could go help him.

Round 2 of his toss and fetch

Also, we are still trying to win this Dublin Dog contest on Facebook and can use some more referrals. We are losing to someone doing lab rescue right now. We want to win so we can donate part of the prizes to mom's Weimaraner Rescue. So if you're on Facebook please use THIS LINK to just go to their page and hit the LIKE button.

Trial

So after the awful week we have had we decided to get our minds off of things and go to the trial that we already scheduled. It was in Dayton and on dirt. There were not many Q's (Qualifying scores) coming from the standard ring at all. But I pulled off a Q and earned 13 more points towards my MACH. Mom and dad were so proud of me. Oh yeah, my dad's mom and dad were there to. Dad's mom was going around telling people I was her Granddog, BOL. Grandma took pics of me, but she hasn't sent them over yet. Once she does I will share them with you.

Here is video of my perfect standard run with mom and Grandpa's commentary.

Then it was time for my JWW course. No Q in this one, I got a little confused in the middle and went around a jump instead of over it.

I owe a bunch of you thanks

This is Christina, Sagira's mom. First off, I just wanted to let you all know how much I appreciated all the comments and condolences of the sudden and very tragic loss of my father. January 18, 2012, will be a day that I never forget. I am trying to be strong and here for my mom as all of our lives have now changed. My mom and dad both worked at Walmart in Port Clinton. My dad chose to end his life in the Walmart parking lot before his shift started. His car then accidentally caught on fire. The people were running around looking for my dad in the store to tell him that his car was on fire and had no idea he was actually in the burning car. They didn't realize there was a body in the car until after the fire was put out. The people at Walmart have just been AMAZING to our family. Weds. morning they brought over a care pack to my mom's house. They gave us so much food, snacks, drinks so that all the company coming in would have something to eat. My dad is the oldest of seven boys so it is a pretty large family. The HR department came to my mom's house to fill out paperwork for her. They also worked with the Columbus store (where my brother works) and did his paperwork for him as well. Sunday evening we had a memorial for my dad. Walmart catered the event. Walmart has also offered the family counseling if we need it. Walmart is also going to dig up the burned parking space that my dad parked in every morning and plant a tree for him and place a bird feeder there. My dad used to feed the seagulls so much on his lunches that the birds knew his car. I just want to thank all the kind and loving people at Walmart for helping us make it through this tragic event.

Next on my list, I want to thank Frankie, Sarge and The OP Pack for sending us cards during this difficult time. That was so sweet of you all to do and much appreciated.

I would also like to thank Ann over at the Zoolatry for sending out an email to help us get some votes in a contest that we are close in. She made this cute photo and included it in the email she sent out. Thank you so much Ann!

Photobucket

Speaking of, the contest is still going. So if you are on Facebook, please click THIS LINK and just like the page once you get there. The person with the most referrals gets $385 in prizes. I would love to be able to donate some to my rescue if we would be lucky enough to win. Please feel free to share my link as well.

One last contest...Bokeh and Jeremy are 1 of 4 finalist in a contest on Facebook through SIT STAY.com. If you can just go to their page and find the photo of Bokeh (Aussie) hugging Jeremy from behind and click the photo and LIKE it your vote will be counted. Right now we are in 2nd place.

Again, thank you to all who have been here for me this past week. It has been one nightmare of a week.

Weimaraner Wednesday

Starr playing with a squeaky toy. This is just kind of funny because before Sagira and Bokeh arrives, Starr wanted NOTHING to do with any toys of any kind.

Silly boy

Don't tell Bokeh that he is using the dog bed the wrong way. He thinks it is a really big pillow.

What are you laughing at?

The after bath

After our playdate at the park, they took Starr, Bokeh and I to Pet People. Mom had a coupon for a free dog wash so poor Bokeh had to get a bath.

Photobucket

He was not amused

Photobucket

Look how dirty that water was, looks like chocolate milk

Photobucket

Starr and I were cowering in the back hoping we were not next

Playdate at the Park

We met up with Matt and his gang at the park before the weather got real bad. It was a lot of fun. Bokeh always has so much fun with his girlfriends Bella and Bazooka.

Bokeh started agility class

Bokeh started his first agility class at our training club now that he is old enough to jump.

Photobucket

Jump

Photobucket

Photobucket

The biggest hurdle that Bokeh had was the weave poles. He has never seen weave poles before. But just after a few times of the instructor standing on one side and Bokeh on the other he became a pro at them. Here is a short video of him in the channel weaves for the first time. Sorry not the best he was across the room from where we can watch.

New friend

My friend Maggie from our training club got a new sister. Her name is Stella. I got to meet her last Friday. I took her a new toy and some treats to welcome her to the club.

Photobucket

Isn't she cute? They think she is a part Schnauzer and part Aussie.

Photobucket

She was kind of scared at first. But I was real nice to her and told her the training club is LOTS of fun and she will get LOTS of treats. By the end of the night I think she liked it there.

Sit Stay

Remember Bokeh and I did a conga line to try to win a prize? Well our box came in the mail the other day.

What do you think they sent us Bokeh?

Photobucket

Starr always has to stick her nose in our fun

Photobucket

Oh wow! A coffee mug and some salmon treats. YUM! Mom open the treats, hurry!

Photobucket

Thank you Sit Stay.

Weimaraner Wednesday

So as you all know my mom volunteers for Weimaraner Rescue. One of the things that mom has been doing is saving up Coke reward codes to turn in for products to auction off at the annual fundraiser mom's rescue has. She figured since we have some new readers it would be a great time to ask for some help. Do you drink ANY Coke products (Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Dasani water, Minute Maid OJ, the list goes on)? If so we would be happy to have the reward codes found on your Coke products. If you would like more information you're welcome to email mom at:

rescue-OhioRelinquish(AT)louisvilleweimrescu{DOT}com

Feel free to share on your blogs as well. Mom is running low on codes and needs some help.

Wouldn't be a good post without a photo of Miss Starr on Weim Weds now would it?

Photobucket

One last thing, we are in another contest on Facebook for Dublin Dog. The person who gets the most people to like their page will win a prize pack worth $385. They just updated and said that we are close to first. So PLEASE if you are on Facebook click THIS LINK and like their page. We want to win so we can donate a portion of the prizes to our rescue's Weim and Cheese event. You are welcome to share our link as well and would appreciate that.

Heartworms?

Bokeh had to go back to the Rascal Unit to have a heart worm test to make sure he doesn't have any icky worms before registering to be a therapy dog. It was snowing out, can you tell?

Photobucket

Doing some tricks to pass the time

Photobucket

Results are back...no icky worms for Bokeh. YEAHHH! So we just sent out his TDI paperwork. Once we get his card and papers back he can start visiting people.

More mail

These all came before Christmas, I am just behind on posting. :)

We received some more toys in the mail from our good pals, Frankie & Ernie. Frankie & Ernie sent us a squirrel and a rabbit to play with.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Starr wanted to kill the rabbit

Photobucket

Our friends Razzle and Jura also gave us a gift bag during the Christmas potluck. When we got home we found a Snowman (did you read that Frankie?) and a Christmas bone. They both squeaked and were so much fun to play with

Starr grabbed the snowman right away

Photobucket

Photobucket

Oh no, Bokeh is trying to steal my bone.

Photobucket

Thank you Frankie, Ernie, Razzle and Jura for our Christmas squeakies. We loved killing I mean playing with them.

Friday night run throughs

Remember when I was telling you that mom and dad never let anyone run me in agility and they wish they would have? You can read my old post about it and see the video of my friend Cindy running me for the first time HERE. Well...the following week Cindy ran me again. Look at the HUGE improvement in just a week. I seem much more comfortable out there with her.
