I owe a bunch of you thanks

This is Christina, Sagira's mom. First off, I just wanted to let you all know how much I appreciated all the comments and condolences of the sudden and very tragic loss of my father. January 18, 2012, will be a day that I never forget. I am trying to be strong and here for my mom as all of our lives have now changed. My mom and dad both worked at Walmart in Port Clinton. My dad chose to end his life in the Walmart parking lot before his shift started. His car then accidentally caught on fire. The people were running around looking for my dad in the store to tell him that his car was on fire and had no idea he was actually in the burning car. They didn't realize there was a body in the car until after the fire was put out. The people at Walmart have just been AMAZING to our family. Weds. morning they brought over a care pack to my mom's house. They gave us so much food, snacks, drinks so that all the company coming in would have something to eat. My dad is the oldest of seven boys so it is a pretty large family. The HR department came to my mom's house to fill out paperwork for her. They also worked with the Columbus store (where my brother works) and did his paperwork for him as well. Sunday evening we had a memorial for my dad. Walmart catered the event. Walmart has also offered the family counseling if we need it. Walmart is also going to dig up the burned parking space that my dad parked in every morning and plant a tree for him and place a bird feeder there. My dad used to feed the seagulls so much on his lunches that the birds knew his car. I just want to thank all the kind and loving people at Walmart for helping us make it through this tragic event.

Next on my list, I want to thank Frankie, Sarge and The OP Pack for sending us cards during this difficult time. That was so sweet of you all to do and much appreciated.

I would also like to thank Ann over at the Zoolatry for sending out an email to help us get some votes in a contest that we are close in. She made this cute photo and included it in the email she sent out. Thank you so much Ann!

Speaking of, the contest is still going. So if you are on Facebook, please click THIS LINK and just like the page once you get there. The person with the most referrals gets $385 in prizes. I would love to be able to donate some to my rescue if we would be lucky enough to win. Please feel free to share my link as well.

One last contest...Bokeh and Jeremy are 1 of 4 finalist in a contest on Facebook through SIT STAY.com. If you can just go to their page and find the photo of Bokeh (Aussie) hugging Jeremy from behind and click the photo and LIKE it your vote will be counted. Right now we are in 2nd place.

Again, thank you to all who have been here for me this past week. It has been one nightmare of a week.

  1. Well, I have started this post about 7 times but erase everything I say cause there is nothing I can say that will help you deal with your loss.

Just know we are thinking of you and if you need anything......just let us know.

  2. I've been thinking about you a lot Chris. There really is nothing a person can say. My grandfather took his own life and we really never could understand it. You have my sympathy and know that I am sending you hugs from across town.

  13. Good luck in the contest.

We are very sorry for your loss, so nice to know that your parents co-workers at Wal-Mart are there for your family. The tree in the parking lot with a bird feeder is a really nice thought.

  16. Dear Christina,
Ann from Zoolatry sent me over - to try and help you win a competition - only to read about this tragic, heartbreaking news. I am so, so sorry for you and your family. Please accept my deepest condolences.
I have also lost someone close, in a similar way, and understand what it feels like to try and comprehend such a thing. It is life-shattering. My thoughts and prayers will be with you in the difficult weeks ahead.
    With lots of love

I lost my father about 6.5 months ago so I can relate to this somewhat. I'm really glad that Walmart had been so supportive to your family and doing all that they can for you during such a tragic time.

I hope you know that all of Blogville is here for you too.

  23. Christina,
I wish there was more i could say to help ease your pain other than I am so sorry and am here if you want to talk. It seems inadequate...
Wow, is all I can say about the people of Walmart. How amazing to have the support from them all!

One day at a time, my friend. One day at a time...

  25. I am so sorry for your loss-I wish there was something more profound to say in a time like this. I thought I posted days ago, but guess my browser is messing up and did not post. I lost my dad a few years ago after he chose to end his life and boy it was hard enough to deal with the loss but just having an unusual circumstance made it feel even harder to wrap my head around and to handle. I wish I could be there to give you all a hug, I am glad you are getting some good support to get through this.... (((HUGS)))
