Pedigree

We like to support companies that supports rescue. So here are a few words from our friends over at Pedigree.

We haven’t had a chance to taste it, but don’t put it past us.

Longtime cat and dog adoption advocate and pet food maker, Pedigree®, has developed their best dry food recipe ever, and the result is… extra nutritious, just as tasty. (At least the latter is what we hear.)

Pedigree, created this dog food formulation on recommendations from the Waltham® Centre for Pet Nutrition, which identified four Universal Needs of Dogs: healthy skin/coat, preventative oral care, good digestion, and a strong immune system. In other words, when your pup receives the nutrition he needs to fuel these four areas, and you have the foundation for a happy, healthy pet.

Makes sense to us. Like with humans, skin is your dog’s largest organ – essential to everything from protecting her from bacteria and viruses to regulating her core temperature. So, Pedigree added zinc and linoleic acid for a healthy coat and dermis.

And oral care, often overlooked by pet owners, is the best protection against periodontal disease. Eighty percent of adult dogs will suffer from this painful condition; potentially worse, periodontal disease can lead to serious heart, lung, and kidney problems.

As for healthy digestion and a strong immune system, those are no-brainers. Gastrointestinal troubles are no fun (for either of you), so Pedigree’s formula includes increased levels of fiber – essential for bacteria control, nutrient absorption, and even weight management. Vitamins C and E, antioxidants, were incorporated to boost immunity.

Pedigree’s best dry food ever is in stores now, and the results of taste tests from our four-legged reviewers will be in shortly. Meanwhile, we applaud Pedigree’s commitment to ensuring all dogs receive loving homes – and high-quality dog food. 1. While I applaud any company that helps animals in need, I'm not sure the ingredients in this food are the best: Ground yellow corn, meat and bone meal, corn gluten meal, chicken by-product meal (etc)...

But, the Pedigree foundation has raised over a million dollars for shelter pets! That is at least a good business practice.

  6. It's nice that they help rescues but I don't think their food is necessarily the best in quality cause it's got fillers that are really bad for doggies that are prone to bloat. Like Danes, GSD, huskies, Saint Benards, etc. Taste test are one thing, nutrition is another. For example my hooman hates spinach and loves french fries - we know what she should eat. Just sayin.

But yes, thank you pedigree for supporting rescues.

  8. So happy to know that the caps arrived! Bet you were surprised to find out that I've been saving those for you all this time. And, guess what? I am the one who drank all that diet Coke!☺

Thank you for leaving a comment about the Bleu. The one thing that I absolutely hate about surrounding myself with animals - and loving them so deeply - is that I will outlive them. The Bleu was so very special to his the Mom.

  9. We just got a bag of their new formula dogfood. I haven't had a chance to actually taste it as Mommy hasn't opened the bag yet, but I am looking forward to trying it.

It makes us happy to know that when we buys food for me we are helping a rescue dog. ~Fenris

  10. It's a crappy dog food for sure but I agree it is nice that they put some of their profits towards helping animals in need.
