It was the boys turn to go to the VET. Mom and dad chose to take them to a new place called the Rascal Unit for their vaccines this time. Rascal Unit just built a brand new facility that is going to be open 24/7 and take emergency cases, etc. They also do low cost spay and neutering as well. Mom couldn't get over how much cheaper it is than going to our normal vet (who we love) but just couldn't afford this time around. We paid $62 for both Harley and Bokeh to get their rabies, bordetella, DHLPP and office visits. We would have paid nearly that in just an office visit for one of the boys at the regular vet. Anyhoo....Bokeh is perfectly fine, good weight, teeth look nice. We did get some bad news about Harley though. Harley has been walking a bit funny so we asked them about that. We thought it was just arthritis since he is going to be 14 in just a few days but the vet told us that he has a large tumor on his back leg. She said that with his age and location of the tumor surgical removal isn't recommended. So...we are just hoping that it isn't a fast growing tumor and Harley will have more time with us.
Poor Harley - we hope he has LOTS more time.
ReplyDeleteMom has used Rascal with some rescues and LOVES them.....
We're sorry to hear about Harley, but paws crossed that it will be slow-growing and not bother him too much. Good going, Bokeh!
ReplyDeleteThat new facility sounds great. It's also always good to have a 24/7 place you know.
Woofs,
Tommy
Mom says she wishes we had a place like that here, the costs just keep going up and up.
ReplyDeletePoor Harley, those lumps and bumps can be so annoying when we get old. Phantom can attest to that. Hope he has many more good days.
Woos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
Aww Harley! I hope the tumors don't get too out of control.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I think it would be a great idea for someone to create a website that lists the exam cost for each vet. Ellie's vet charges over $70 just for the exam, then add on vaccines, fecal testing, etc! So pricey!
I'm so sorry about Harley's tumor. I hope you have some time with him too and that it doesn't cause him much pain.
ReplyDeleteI wish we had a vet place like that here. What you paid for the entire vet bill is pretty much what I have to pay just for an office visit for my boys!
Sorry to hear about Harley's tumor. I've got my
ReplyDeletepaws crossed for many good days with him.
Stewey
OH MY... THAT is way cheaper than OUR Vet, TOO!!!
ReplyDeleteSo very much sorry to hear this about Harley. I have my paws crossed that it is slow growing, also.
We are sorry to hear about Harley. We hope the tumour doesn't give him too much trouble.
ReplyDeleteHarley, dear boy, we are sending White Dog Army positive energy and healing vibes so that you can continue to walk and get around without pain. We ask that Harley be granted lots more time with his wonderful family.
ReplyDeletePaws crossed here for Harley!
ReplyDeleteKisses and hugs
