Weimaraner Wednesday (GRAPHIC RESCUE PICS)

Just wanted to give those faint of heart a little warning that these pics are hard to see. As you know my mom volunteers for Louisville Weimaraner Rescue. A few weeks ago they received a call from animal control in IN that they picked up a very emaciated Weimaraner. One of the adoption coordinators went to work right away and within a few hours this sweet girl, Luka, was at a vet's office being checked out. Her labs came back so high that the vet said he has never seen them so high on a dog that was still alive. Even though Luka has been through hell and back mom hears that she is such a sweet girl and anyone that comes in contact with her just falls in love with her. When the rescue got her she weighed only 27 pounds.

We normally don't ask our friends to donate but we feel Luka is a very special case. If anyone would like to donate towards Luka's vet bills a Chip In account has been set up for her and is on the right hand side of my blog, donations can also be made by visiting the rescues gift shop or by mailing a check payable to Louisville Weimaraner Rescue, 16810 HWY 62, Charlestown IN 47111. If you want your donations to go for Luka's care, please make a note on your donation. Any donations in excess of her treatment cost will be moved over to help care for other Weims in the rescue.

Luka is now in a foster home, she is gaining weight and learning what it is like to not be starved to death and to actually be loved and cared for.

Okay...so now for the photos. We hope nobody is offended but we just wanted to show you what some people do.

  1. Dear God, it just sickens me how horrifically cruel some "humans" can be. Thank you for doing this important work. We hope that this sweet dog will recover and eventually find a home with someone who will cherish her for the rest of her life.

  3. Thanks for letting us know about Luka, Sagira. We just went over to Louisville Weim Rescue and left a little something to help out. There was nowhere to include that the donation is for Luka's vet bills, but we trust it will go to the right place!

  15. OMG, I am speachless, how could someone let that happen to a dog-much less their dog, and for a dog to be sweet when they are in that condition, you know it has to hurt to move and boy can you imagine how much time has been spent hungry, hope this is a case that will be prosecuted, but thank heavens this sweetie is on the way to a new life.

  17. Sometimes, momma says, she is so ashamed of being one of a species who can commit such atrocities. Of course, we will help Luka.

  21. Oh my stars! This baby girl looks like Mulligan did when I got him as my first foster baby. It is amazing how much a dog can endure and still remain an amazingly gentle animal. Many prayers for sweet Luka. We'll be sending in a donation soon.
