Trying to hang on

What an awful week this has been. Mom can't stop crying, dad is trying to comfort her. Bokeh and I are trying to put on a comedy show to make mom and dad smile. Starr is not leaving mom's side and showering her with kisses and Harley...well Harley is just being Harley.

We wanted to thank everyone who wrote us and blogged to us during Samick's passing. Mom is taking it REALLY hard. Today is the first day she has decided she needs to stand strong and not cry all day and get something done.

Samick passed peacefully to the Rainbow Bridge Monday evening around 6:35 pm. It went exactly as mom knew it would, she told Samick it was time to go bye bye, he was so excited because he hasn't been anywhere in awhile because he has been sick and peed everywhere. His tail was going and boy was he excited. We got to the vet's office and he wanted to look out the window. They called us back in the room and his tail was still wagging. Dr. Knapp agreed that it was time and gave him some sedation to make it easier on him. Samick laid down and mom and dad loved on him and told him what a good boy he was. Dr. Knapp let him go and he was gone just like that.

We got Samick over 12 years ago from a pet store. He was some of the best $99 we spent. He was such a gentle and sweet boy, not a mean bone in his body. Mom always wanted a therapy dog and knew after she had me tested that Samick would be an amazing one. At 10 years old they took Samick to be tested to become a TDI dog. His tail was wagging the entire test and passed with flying colors. Samick got to visit patient's at Doctors West Hospital and also was part of the reading program at the library where children could read to him. There will never be another Sammy Pooh in our lives and we miss him greatly.

  1. We are so sorry for this very difficult time.
Two years ago, my family had to put down our collie - Sophie. It was so hard. But, my family made a Memory Box for Sophie. It had her bowls, favorite toys and stuffies in it. Then, they decorated the outside of the box with Sophie's pictures. Now, we have Sophie forever immortalized in this beautiful Memory Box! And, our family will always have Sophie's memories in their hearts!

  3. We can feel your pain and are with you in spirit. Losing such a dear friend and such a gentle, sweet soul is like a tearing of one's soul. Remember he will always be with you, and try to focus on the ones who are still there and need you to love them and smile with them.

  5. We feel your pain and are crying right with you. 5 yrs ago, we had to let our little Poodle Sprint go too. He was 18 yrs old and had been apart of EVERYTHING with our kids, school, friend activities, proms, driving experiences, LOL graduations, weddings~~he was one of our family. We understand your feelings and pain completely. Mom cried for days!!

But one thing she did was buy a wooden frame from the craft store, covered it with a scrapbook paper. She has cut a bit of his hair before he went to the vet and on that frame is his hair in a small small baggie, some of his doggie biscuits glued to it, his nick names written on it and his collar with tags glued to the corner of it. It is a reminder of the sweet sprint that we all knew and loved. She said she will always cherish that frame, plus she has a book with all his pictures in it. I can tell he was a special dog!!So maybe something like that or decorate a special rock in your yard or garden!!

Our thoughts are with you during this sad time for you all.
    Love

  9. The night sky holds another twinkle of love this night and forever because of the life that Samick lived.

I didn't know him long but I do know from what I've read that he was one of the gifts to humans from all that is beautiful.

  22. Aw gosh. I'm so far behind, and I'm so sorry to learn of Samick's passing. These pictures are a beautiful tribute (I loved the one of the three of them on the stairs!). One thing we know for sure: Samick, and all the dogs in your home, are well loved.

  23. Oh, Sagira! We have been gone so much that we missed this. We are all so very sorry that Samick had to go over the Bridge but your mom and dad did the most luving thing they pawsibly could for him. He was lucky to have pawrents that luved him enough to make that Most Difficult decision. I hope your tears are beginning to be replaced by smiles when you think of him. We're not quite there yet around here. But that's okay. I know one day we will be.

Samick had a Most Wonderful and Full life and he was lucky to be part of your family.

    Gentle wiggles & wags,
    Mayzie

  24. We just found out about your sad, sad loss. This summer our momma didn't blog much because she said she cried so furry much all the time when sweet dogs and kitties would complete their Circle of Life. Again - she is crying. She is crying for all the dogs she has had to send on their way and she is crying for you because she knows your pain. Rest well, sweet boy. It is never good-bye. It is always, see you later.

  25. Oh my dears.... How did I miss this post? I was traveling I think and didn't have a computer to travel with then. I'm soooooo sorry. Sammy was a doll and you were the perfect pawrents! Any dog would be lucky and in love to have 12 years with you. Hell, any HUMAN would. Much love to you both....
