Sagira started her retrieve class a few weeks ago. She is learning to "Hold It" right now. She isn't too happy with this class, but she needs to be able to do this part if she wants to join in the obedience advanced level trials some day. It is really neat belonging to a training club and learning all the ways to train a dog. I have a new respect for the dogs I see out doing things now as I know first hand how much time goes into training a dog.
I SO wish our club had a retrieving class!
ReplyDeleteSylvie and I have come a long way in her retrieving skills since I got her. It's not that she didn't want to retrieve (she's a nut when it comes to running for things!), it's that she didn't want to bring it back to me! We still struggle with it- in the field, in Open obedience, etc... but we've gradually gotten better.
Neva and Vera on the other hand, are more than happy to bring me things!
