Weimaraner Wednesday

So on June 11th, mom, dad and Bokeh left for Jeffersonville, IN to attend Louisville Weimaraner Rescue's 4th Annual Weim and Cheese event. I wasn't allowed to go because dogs except ones for adoption were not supposed to be at the event but they let Bokeh come so he wouldn't have to be crated that long. Since I'm a big girl and don't stay in a crate I had to stay home in Ohio.

Mom had SO much fun. Here she is with all the W&C volunteers

Lots of people showed up to help raise money for the Weims

They ended up having 304 silent auction baskets full of goodies and items to bid on

So as most know Mom is the Relinquishment Coordinator for Louisville Weimaraner Rescue. She sees and hears a lot of things, some good and some bad. Well, some dogs just take a special spot in mom's heart. Ellie Mae is one of those dogs. Mom will spare you the graphic and horrible photos, but Ellie had a bad owner who left a cut in her leg get severly infected. The whole bottom of her foot was really black. You could smell her from the front yard. We took her in and got her to the vet right away. They had to amputate her leg up to her hip. After her surgery she bloated and had to return to surgery that evening. She is a fighter and is up and moving around just fine now on her 3 legs. Ellie is such a loving and sweet girl. Mom got to meet her at W&C this year. Mom teared up meeting her just because of everything Ellie has been through and was SO thankful to the volunteer who saved her. Her foster mom has now become her permanent mom and Ellie is going to have a great life! This is Ellie and her mom who saved her.

Bokeh was there to, mom put him to work and put a donation vest on him. He was hamming it up for people.

Mom had been saving all year to have some "fun" money to big on things. These are all the things mom brought home.

A new slow feed bowl (for Bokeh because he inhales his food) and some yummy Tillman Treats.

Photobucket

A basket full of Tillman treats (13 bags) and a Kong, yipee! I don't think we will run out of treats anytime soon.

Photobucket

This basket had some cool stuff, even has discs for dad's new obsession Frisbee golf

Close up of the Weim pillow, it is so soft

New garden flag and mat

Photobucket

Mom has always wanted one of these and dad never got the hint to get her one so she bought herself one during the auction

Photobucket

They also called mom up during the presentation and presented her with this beautiful plaque. The photo doesn't do it justice. It has mom's name on it, the years she has volunteered and her title with the rescue. She about cried.

Mom can't wait for Weim and Cheese 2012. She is already starting to gather up donations for it. :)

  2. What a fabulous event! France has very little in terms of volunteerism and people willing to donate, so we are always awed by these things. And your Mom brought home such great stuff!
