Jeremy and I attended/worked our first agility trial. Our training club hosted an AKC trial this weekend. Sagira couldn't enter since she is a mixed breed dog but we wanted to go and check it out and see what a real trial was like. It was a great learning experience for us. Some of these dogs were just amazing. We saw three people earn a MACH this weekend. The first one I saw gave me chills and made me tear up a bit. I have such a huge appreciation now for those who are able to compete and earn these titles, it involves so much time and effort.
The trial ran really smooth. The organizers from the club did a GREAT job. They were so nice to those of us who have never been to a trial before. They were sure to teach us the ropes and let us help out as much as we wanted to.
We are looking forward to Sagira's first NADAC trial next month even more now.

Rally Time
Has been awhile since I updated about our training. Sagira has improved so much in her weave pole training. She enters them correctly almost every time now and isn't popping out of them as much as she used to. I see a great deal of improvement in her agility training.
We are starting our Rally training tonight. I think I might actually do the classes with her instead of Jeremy (who does them all with her). I wonder how she will do.
Starr says...Happy Thursday everyone!

COSI Demo
Yesterday our training club was invited to do some demos for the kids at COSI. It was such a beautiful day and a lot of fun with great dogs and great friends for the day.
Here is Sagira and her daddy doing some "tricks" during the demo
Sagira with her friend from the training club, Scarlet (no this isn't our Weim, Starr).
Notice that Scarlet's nails are even painted red
Sagira and Scarlet say GO BUCKS!
How cute was this little girl in her OSU outfit? She matches Sagira
Sagira stopping by the Ferret rescue booth to check them out. She wasn't sure what to think of them.
Sagira looking all pretty with the red flowers
Sitting on a little wood bridge
Greeting some of her fans
Bandit is also a member of our club. Bandit is an earth dog (meaning he goes underground to catch rodents). So we all thought it would be funny to let the big mouse catch Bandit for once.
We didn't bring any agility equipment so we made our own by using the seats there to jump the dogs over.
We had a great time and look forward to many more demos with our training club.

Parade
Labor day we went to Dayton...yes I am a bit behind on posting some of my pics. Never enough hours in the day. Here are a few pics from watching our niece and nephews march in the parade.
The kids in their Firebirds jerseys and Sagira in her OSU jersey. Next year we want to surprise the kids and have Sagira in a Firebirds jersey.
Sagira in front of some pretty yellow flowers at the park we went to after the parade.
And this is just one I thought was neat. They had a Jeep club in the parade. They were riding up on each others tires and stuff. Was kind of neat to see.

Pooch Plunge
This past weekend our local YMCA was closing down for the season and on the last day they hold an event called "Pooch Plunge". This is where they let the dogs come in and swim before they drain the pool. It raises money for the YMCA and lets the dogs get out of the house for a little fun in the sun.
This is the first chance we have had to get in the water with the dogs, so Jeremy got in and took Starr out. I just wanted to know if she even knew how to swim. She is 9 years old and only goes in the water a little bit (like up to her tummy at most). Jeremy took her in and held on to her and she actually started to doggy paddle. YEAHHH GO STARR!
Splashing her daddy good on this one
Look at my girl go
Sagira showing Starr that swimming isn't hard and is fun to do
Starr says enough of this, let me out of here
She would rather watch from the sidelines
Sagira on the other hand loves the water and can't wait to get in
Sagira's friend Maggie showed up and they were swimming together
Isn't Maggie cute?
You have to check out Jeremy's HUGE smile in this picture. He loves Sagira SO much and this just shows it
This is one of my favorite pics from the day
Sagira always has to find the biggest dog around to play with...I think she accomplished that
Starr wasn't to sure what to think of a dog bigger than her
And if the day couldn't get any better, I won one of the door prizes. I was SO excited.

Harley's Hot Spot
Poor Harley....we had to take him to the vet today. We thought he had a hot spot, which Samick gets all the time. We treated it just as we would Samick's, but Harley's would just not get any better. We had a cone on him the past few days and just felt it was time to take him to the vet before it got infected or any worse. So...needless to say $140, 3 bottles of pills and a shaved head later we have Harley healing up. They shaved his head so it would be easier for us to treat. My poor old man, I hope this clears up soon.

Wagfest
We attended a local dog event this past weekend. We set up a booth for the rescue group, Louisville Weimaraner Rescue. Our training club was also doing agility and obedience demos. It was a long but fun filled day.
This is the booth we set up
Sagira doing some of her agility
All the free stuff we got at the event
Starr checking out all her goodies
Will you play with me?
How about I get you wet?
Sagira
2 sleepy dogs by the end of the day
