Toss and Fetch from Day 1 at World Finals

This is video of Bokeh's toss and fetch round from Day 1 at the world finals. Not sure what was going on but it was like Bokeh wasn't evening seeing the disc. He earned 12 points out of a possible 22.5. We are chalking it up to Bokeh is still a baby dog and very green.

Happy Halloween to all my blog pals as well. :)

Day 1 at the World Disc Dog Finals

So we arrived in Georgia on Friday night. There was a mandatory players meeting at the hotel (no dogs allowed, hmpff!). Mom stayed at the hotel with Starr, Bokeh and I while dad attended the meeting. Friday night wasn't too much fun in the hotel. All the new sounds and smells. Bokeh and I were barking at every little noise. Mom thought Starr would be the uneasy one at the hotel but you can tell from the photo below she made herself right at home.

Saturday morning we woke up and got ready to head over to the park where the world finals were being held. We arrived and got our tent all set up. We had a small problem though...Bokeh wouldn't poop. He hadn't pooped in over 24 hours and mom and dad were getting a little concerned. Finally about an hour or so before Bokeh performed he finally pooped. Right before he went in the ring dad pottied him again and he peed 3 times. So...of all the things that could go wrong at the world finald we never though Bokeh would poop in the ring during his routine but....as you can see by the video below Bokeh decided that two minutes of the day was the perfect time to poop again. Dad was heartbroken as he has been working so hard with Bokeh for months prior preparing for this. The USDDN doesn't play when it comes to going potty in the ring so time got stopped and Bokeh only got judged on one minute of his routine and also had 5 points deducted from his score. Poor Bokeh and dad. Dad kept his chin up and said it was still an honor just to be invited. We got to watch the disc dog people we have seen and admired through You Tube in real life and it was AWESOME!

Before the events began they had the Boyscouts present the flag

We're Back!

We made it back from our big trip to Georgia. We had a GREAT time. I bet you are all wondering how my little brother did....well to be honest I think the nerves got the better of him and dadster and he didn't do to well. BUT...that is okay we are still VERY proud of him and had a great trip.

Started our by having a players meeting on Saturday morning and then they did a group photo. These are all the people who were invited to compete at the USDDN World Finals.

We met people from all over the world. There were people there from the USA, Japan, China, Czech Republic, Greece, Poland, etc. Everyone was so kind and cheering on each other. The people from Japan were just truly amazing. Their throws were always spot on and their dogs were just amazing.

Check back tomorrow for more from our big trip.

Therapy Thursday

Bokeh had his third therapy dog visit at the hospital last week. It went really well. He gets more confident with each visit that we make there. He always has to check for food as soon as we walk in. Silly boy. This time the patients were really nice. We had people flagging us down in the hallway to have Bokeh come visit their loved ones.

Grandma is having her surgery today. We told momster to give her a hug from us since we can't go see her yet.

Mom's rescue Louisville Weimaraner Rescue just received their new 2013 calendars. They are only $12 and that includes shipping. All proceeds go to help the sick, injured and homeless Weimaraners in the rescue. This calendar is extra special because each month features a Weimaraner that was rescued and now placed in a new home by the rescue. It is beautiful and full color. To order one go HERE

Also, mom's mom is having a big surgery (bypass) on Thursday. Please send her some good thoughts and healing purrs and paws. Momster is super worried.

New Albany Classic Part 1

A few weeks ago our training club was invited to put on some shows at the New Albany Classic. This was a very high profile kind of event. It was on Mr. Lex Wexner's own personal property. Mom and dad had to give up their details so a background check could be done on them and everything just for us to be able to go. Glad mom and dadster were not shady and we were able to make it.

Here is my demo doing agility for the kids:

This is dad and Bokeh putting on a disc dog demo:

This was a HUGE festival with lots of rides, horse racing and more.

Check back tomorrow for Bokeh's favorite part of the demo.

Day 2 of the trial

I again didn't get any Q's this day. My first run I had the same problem with my weave poles as I did the first two runs on Saturday. But I still had fun and ran fast.

and this was my Jumpers run on Sunday and thiw was ALL dad's fault. He slowed me down to make sure I did my weaves correctly (which I did) and then at the very end dad was worried about falling and pushed me around the jump. I can't blame him though as we just watched 3 people in front of us fall at that spot. EEK! Dad might have to start wearing a helmet, BOL

Day 1 of the Trial

Got to love Ohio weather. One day it it close to 80 and then boom the next day (of course the day we are outside at a trial) it gets down into the 50's. BRR!

Well, the weekend didn't go to well. This was my worst weekend as far as Q's go (0 for 4) however mom and dad are still very proud of me and the way I ran. They said I ran really fast and was having fun. But for some reason I wasn't able to do my weave poles each time. I was skipping a pole. Dad seems to think it was the dirt floor and with over 100 dogs running on it before me it became like sand and I lost my footing. Some people seem to think I might be a little "stiff" and need a message or an adjustment so mom has contacted 2 people that she really trust and has quotes on how much those things will cost.

Here is my standard run from Saturday. Course time was 67 seconds and I can in well under that time. Just messed up my weaves.

and her is my Jumpers Course. Dad was super happy with my speed since the trial was little dogs to big dogs and we were there all day and didn't run my last run until about 4:00. Usually by that time I am slowed down and not wanting to run real fast but again I came in under course time just messed up the weaves.

Any of my agility friends have any suggestions on what they think the problem was with the weaves? We would love to hear your thoughts. :)

Another trial weekend

Wow, go all year with no trials and now two trials in a row. Off to Springfield, Ohio for another AKC agility trial. If I do perfect in my Jumpers with Weaves runs this weekend I can possibly earn my Master Excellent Jumpers (MXJ) title this weekend. Wish me luck!

Therapy Thursday

Last Friday we made our second trip to the hospital. This time we had to go in the basement to get our ID cards. They even gave Bokeh his very own ID card, how cute!

Photobucket

Mom says that Bokeh did even better at this visit. He wasn't as nervous (neither were mom and dad). They made the visits in each room short and sweet. Bokeh loved the nurses petting him and giving him attention. I think he is going to like this therapy thing once he gets used to the hospital environment.

Weimaraner Wednesday

I don't think I ever shared this with all of you. But if you remember mom was driving people crazy soliciting for donations to her rescue groups annual fundraiser called "Weim and Cheese". Well dad took some photos and video to show everyone what Weim and Cheese is all about. Check out all the great companies and friends that donated items to our annual fundraiser. We were able to raise LOTS of green papers to care for the sick, injured and homeless Weimaraners in KY, IN, OH and WV. THANK YOU again to everyone that donated to this event, we truly appreciate it.

Trial Day 2

Back for day 2 at the trial. I had a great standard run but my back feet bumped the broad jump (which we never practice in class) and knocked over the bar so I didn't get a Q there. But other than that it was a nice clean run and came in way under time.

Second run was my jumpers with weaves. I did great on this run, earned a Q and 5 more MACH points. Now I only need 2 more legs to earn my MXJ title. WHOO HOO (oh and I got to pick out another toy from the toybox, yipee!)

Trial Day 1

Been awhile since we have been to a trial. This weekend our training club hosted an AKC agility trial so we had fun playing. The trial was three days but mom and dad know that I don't like doing it 3 days in a row so we just went Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I had a great run but I decided to enter my weave poles at the 2nd pole instead of the first and that caused me not to Q.

After that was over we went to my Jumpers with Weaves set and mom and dad didn't think I would make time, it was 39 seconds. Hmpf! They give me no credit. I made it in time (so what if I only have 4/10th of a second to spare) and got a Q. WHOO HOO! So I got to pick out a toy from the toybox. I picked out the squeaky ant.
